BUILDING

The Building Department will be heading to Highland Woods this week to begin inspections for a temp CO. Meetings will also begin with the Science Center design team this week.

HEALTH

Jeff Kennedy has been attending Health and Medical Coordinating Coalition (HMCC) working on regional public health emergency preparedness.

Jeff Kennedy attended Berkshire County Boards of Health Association Executive Committee meeting which focused on improving public health education and services in Berkshire County.

The Board of Health at their 1/25 meeting will hear an appeal from Morris Raker on the Health Inspector’s order to keep his Guinea fowl on his property and off the Milne Library property. The fowl have been disturbing the patrons and defecating on the entranceways and windowsills. The order was issued in accordance with nuisance statutes and stable and livestock regulations.

At the 1/24 meeting, the Board of Health will hear requests for variance from Dunkin Donuts, and Tunnel City Coffee (separate requests), for a relief from the polystyrene bylaw requirements concerning hot cup lids. Both applicants are developing or seeking compliant cup lids alternatives.

Jeff Kennedy has been inspecting food establishments and rental housing units.

LAND USE

Planning Board meets Tuesday the 26th to continue discussion of 2016 bylaw amendments including the idea of allowing the ZBA to permit resort hotel type development at Waubeeka.

The ZBA met on Thursday the 21st to hear a petition from Williams College on their proposed science center expansion. The meeting was continued to February 4.

Andrew, Amy Jeschawitz and others will be meeting with BRPC and Mass Housing Partnership Tuesday to discuss grant opportunities for zoning and planning work related to housing.

The Cultural District working with the Chamber of Commerce recently received a $5,000 grant from the Commonwealth for marketing and district promotion. The monies will be used by the Chamber and Town to replace and update the business directory and trail maps in the downtown as well as offer improved marketing materials at the Info Booth.
