Good Afternoon,
I have been asked to extend an invitation to Berkshire County officials and invite you to a discussion of the Transportation and Climate Initiative with Secretary of the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs Kate Theoharides on Thursday, December 5th from 10am-11:30am at the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (60 Temple Place, Boston, MA 02111).
Secretary Theoharides is leading a coalition of New England and Mid-Atlantic jurisdictions to develop a regional program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transportation. The Secretary will discuss the role Massachusetts is playing to advance this regional program. Ken Kimmell, President of the Union of Concerned Scientists, will explain the proposed structure for the TCI program, including how revenue is raised and invested. Rebecca Davis, MAPC Deputy Director, will share more about how TCI could support different kinds of low-carbon transportation investments TCI could support.
Municipal officials have an important perspective to offer as the TCI program takes shape, and we would love to have you be part of this conversation. If you are able to attend, please RSVP here, and should you have any questions, please contact Kasia Hart at khart@mapc.org or 617-933-0745.
Thank you.
