Rules and Policies for McCormick Middle School Library:

  1. Students in grades 4-6 may check out 2 books for 3 weeks. Students in grades 7 and 8 may check out 3 books.
    1. Fictions books with a red dot on the spine label may only be checked out by 7th and 8th grade students due to young adult content.
    2. Students may bring a parent note granting permission to check out books with a red dot. Notes will be kept on file and entered into the student's library account.
      1. Young Adult is determined as follows: generally characters are teenagers/adults dealing with situations/themes that pertain to their age group; may contain come crude language and scenes not suitable for younger readers.
  2. When classroom projects are assigned students may check out one book on that topic. This is to allow other students the opportunity to get materials.
  3. The library does not charge fees for overdue materials; however, we will charge for for materials that are damaged or lost. Fines that are not paid for will result in students not receiving their end of the year report cards and/or restriction from participating in after-school activities.
  4. Students may come to the library with their regularly scheduled class OR on an individual visit with a pass signed by a teacher. Students will not be permited to use the library without a pass. Please be courteous when using the library while classes are in session.
  5. Misbehavior by students in the library or computer lab may result in suspension of library privleges and other consequences.

Hours of Operation:

  • The library opens at 7:40 AM and remains open until 3:00 PM. As a reminder, though, the library is closed during the 4th grade library special and 6th grade Battle of the Books. Please be courteous when trying to use the library while classes are in session.
