Curriculum

Literacy

"Success in reading is an issue of equity."

"We are committed to ensuring equity so our students grow to love reading and experience their highest potential through literacy instruction grounded in evidence-based practices." MVSU

We teach with a structured literacy approach- explicitly teaching language and foundational skills to build skilled readers.

"EL Education’s approach to curriculum promotes both challenge and joy in learning. It is designed to help students grapple with demanding, standards-based reading and writing tasks. The curricula  elevates student collaboration, voice, thinking, and reflection; it reflects a commitment to developing character; and empowers students to contribute to a more just and equitable world."

Foundational Skills

Fundations: PreK, K, 1, 2, 3

The Fundations program "utilizes a structured literacy approach grounded in the science of reading to lay the groundwork for lifelong literacy. The program’s research-based approach presents carefully structured reading, spelling, and handwriting curriculum."

Math

"Investigations 3 is a focused, coherent, and rigorous K-5 mathematics curriculum. Fully aligned to the content and practice standards of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), deep and careful attention is paid to mathematics content and to student thinking and understanding. Making sense of mathematics is the heart of the work, for students and teachers." (Investigations)

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)

"SEL concepts provide an extra dimension to education, focusing on improving cooperation, communication, and decision-making. In a world where emotional intelligence is critical for lifelong happiness, successful careers, and healthier relationships, SEL gives students a framework for developing these skills." (Second Step)
