Reading: Your child is expected to read daily for at least 20 minutes. This is in addition to independent reading that is assigned during the school day.
There will be 3 nightly assignments of math for Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays. Clapyit Hill will continue Catch Up and Breath (CUB) nights on Wednesdays. Our team is planning to send them home as a packet when possible so that your child has flexibility as to when the math assignments are completed. For example, if Thursdays are particularly busy for your family/child, your child could do their math homework on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. All math sheets are due on Fridays.
In addition to the math sheets, please help your child practice math facts on a regular basis. It will be incredibly helpful for them to have their multiplication (and then division) facts memorized.
There may be times when I ask students to finish working on an assignment we started in class or have a project to work on (like finding pictures for the cover of their writer's notebook). Finally, I always believe students should spend time away from screens by moving, creating, building, playing games and instruments, etc. during free time. Please let me know if the homework becomes overwhelming or otherwise challenging on a regular basis.
