College Credit Plus Meeting - November 3, 2025 @ 6:30PM in the Auditorium
Attending a meeting is required for a parent and any student who desires to participate in the CCP program for the first time in the 2026-2027 school year.
Please RSVP HERE by noon on November 11th
If you missed the meeting, please navigate to the Parent Meetings tab to access the presentation and take a quiz after reviewing the information.
Any student interested in the College Credit Plus program for the 2026-2027 school year should attend a meeting provided by WHS or the participating IHE. The student and at least one parent should be in attendance. A representative from the partnering college will also participate. Details about how to register and join the virtual meeting will be forthcoming.
Any student that has participated in CCP in the past will not need to attend the meeting. Please see Mrs. Westfall or Mrs. Vorwerk for instructions regarding renewing your commitment for the following school year.
In previous years, students could obtain college credit while in high school through a variety of pathways:
1. PSEO (Post-Secondary Enrollment Option) - students take college classes at the college campus.
2. AP Courses - offered through WHS, students could complete these rigorous classes and take a standardized AP subject area test at the conclusion of the class. Students with a score of 3 or better could potentially receive college credit at participating institutions.
Legislation is currently in place that replaces option #1 with a program called College Credit Plus (CCP). (Students will still be able to attempt to receive college credit through AP tests as they have in the past.)
CCP Rules (received 2/18/15):
Wauseon High School will be using Northwest State Community College as our closest partnering Institute of Higher Education (IHE). Students can review the course catalog at Northwest State Community College's website (click here).
Any student in grades 7-12 enrolled in Wauseon Exempted Village Schools is eligible to participate in CCP.
Students interested in earning college credit while in high school must meet admission criteria at the partnering college (IHE) in order to participate in the CCP program.
Criteria include qualifying scores on the appropriate college entrance exam and any GPA requirement the college uses.
Students must have a qualifying college entrance exam score that places them in courses ABOVE a remediation level.
Participation in CCP will carry no cost to WHS students or families.
EXCEPTION: Students that FAIL college courses may be charged for reimbursement of tuition paid to the IHE by WHS.
Students may participate in any Ohio IHE of their choice or any combination thereof.
Students interested in CCP must have counseling/guidance regarding their choice to participate in CCP.
An annual meeting will satisfy that requirement. Contact the guidance office if you cannot make it.
Students are not allowed to take more than 30 credit hours in one school year or more than 120 credit hours in their four year high school career. This includes students that start CCP in 7th and 8th grade.
Students have the option of taking classes at the IHE campus or through an online delivery system.
The formula to calculate the number of college courses a student is allowed to take on a yearly basis is as follows: 30 - [(#of high school credits being taken at WHS) x 3]
Any student interested in CCP for the following school year MUST have an Intent to Participate form turned in by APRIL 1ST. This is a hard deadline determined by the state of Ohio and late applications will not be accepted.
