The district will most likely be utilizing a Google Form sent out 2-3 times per year for this assessment.
WAKIDS
WHOLE-CHILD ASSESSMENT IN THE FALL
Kindergarten students are required to participate in the WAKIDS assessment each Fall. The teacher will schedule time for you to bring your child to do a bunch of different activities. This provides information about skills your child already knows and which ones need to be worked on over the course of the school year.
The Whole-child Assessment uses an observational assessment tool, GOLD®, to observe, collect documentation, and level children’s knowledge skills and abilities across the 6 areas of development and learning: Social-emotional | Physical | Cognitive | Language | Literacy | Mathematics
RAN/RAS
This assessment is given to Kindergarten or First Graders every year and Second Graders if they are new to the district. The Rapid Automatized Naming and Rapid Alternating Stimulus (RAN/RAS) assessment is a diagnostic tool used to measure how quickly and accurately a person can name familiar items—letters, numbers, colors, or objects—aloud. It measures how quickly and automatically your brain can turn a thought or a picture into a word. It is completed in person with the teacher.
IXL
DISTRICT SCREENING ASSESSMENT
The IXL assessment is an “adaptive assessment which can be used to provide interim benchmark data, real-time diagnostic insights, and personalized skill recommendations for students.” This assessment is given to K-2 students two to three times per year.
You will either log in through the Clever App or use an IXL Badge which will be provided by the teacher.

Grades K-1 are completely offline. They are completed in person with a teacher.
Grades 2-3 are mostly online with one offline test completed with a teacher.
Grades 4-5 are completely online. The expectation is that students complete them independently and to the best of their ability.
Grades 6-8 only need to complete the mySAEBRS assessment 3 x per year

Chromebooks: Go to Clever.com and click on Log in as a student, then click on Log in with Google using your district email. The first time you log in, you have to specify your school name (Washougal Learning Academy).
Once in Clever click on Illuminate Education Fastbridge.
Do not click on FASTtrack--click on More Tests right underneath.
Interim Assessments
Interim means in the intervening time. These interim assessments are meant to be taken in between the big assessments to make sure that you have practice and know what to work on before you take the spring assessment. Students should practice what it will be like for the summative assessment. They should not receive help from any source (other people, Siri, Google, Alexa, etc.). They should take the assessment away from distractions (no cell phones, television, music, etc.)
Students in grades 3-8 are expected to participate in as many interim assessments as possible. A detailed schedule is available in Google Classroom. The teacher will email the students’ state ID numbers to their district emails. (We are not able to send them to parent emails.) Unlike the summative assessment in May, the interim assessments begin on Zoom where the teacher provides directions and the session ID. Students take the assessment during the hour the teacher has it open.

Students will need their district device for these assessments.
SBA & WCAS SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENTS
(Smarter Balanced Assessment for ELA and MATH --- Grades 3 - 8)
(Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science --- only Grades 5 and 8)
Purpose of these assessments is to measure how well students are meeting the state’s College and Career Readiness Standards to see if they are "on track" to meeting high school mastery standards.
It will take place in the month of May and is completed in person with the teacher.
Students will need their district device for these assessments.
The ELA test is divided into two parts. The Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) is scheduled for one session and the Performance Task (PT) is scheduled for a second session. If students need more time to complete the PT, they will need to come back in on another day.
The MATH test is also divided into two parts, the CAT and PT but students typically only need one session. If a student needs additional time, then more time shall be granted.
Students in grades 5 and 8 also need to complete the SCIENCE assessment (WCAS) and will need an additional session.
The calendar will go out via ParentSquare to allow families to choose times that will work for them.
Please Note: If a student needs to test individually, arrangements will be made on a case-by-case basis.
