The notes below can be used as a quick crib sheet of steps that you will / might go through when creating a Site. They are actually based on the storyboard that I created for this Site. I did that to think about the things I needed to include and how best to structure the pages.
Students
Open your student GMail
Open Sites from the link on the page
Click Create New Site button
Staff
Go to http://weave.waikato.ac.nz
Log in as normal if needed
Your Google Docs page will open
Open Sites from the link on the page
Click Create New Site button
Add Details
Site name
Category - use course code
Description - optional
Collaborate - Specify people - can add later
Choose theme - can be changed later
Websites are not linear ...
But you should work out what info you want to have on each page - so plan
Give each page a title
Set the layout
Don't paste directly from Word - use Notepad as a middle step if needed
Add links
Illustrate
Can come from upload or web
Size; Align ; Wrap
Add a description as G-Sites not using Alt text
Filing Cabinet
Add page for references
Announcements
Use for notices, blog, changing info
And can be displayed on another page
Can add Google docs
Presentations
Pictures
Videos
Add text box
Rearrange navigation
Make sure that people can read what is there i.e. that all pages are linked to. Use the Sitemap to help check.
Make sure that you use heading styles
Make sure that you don't disadvantage colour blind readers eg green and red together
Make sure that there is sufficient colour contrast i.e. don't put pale yellow writing on a white background
