Laura Thompson, Author: For me, Emmanuel's story isn't as much about having a disability as it is about persevering even when others count you out, about exceeding the expectations of others, and about striving to make the world a better place. I think almost everyone, especially children, can both identify with, and take inspiration from Emmanuel's example, no matter what kinds of challenges they themselves may face. It took me 10 years and countless rewrites to get some idea to publication, but thinking about Emmanuel's determination kept me going.
