(PREREQUISITE AUTO 1)
This course takes over where Auto 1 left off and is for students who are interested in a job in the auto industry. The application of principles learned in Auto 1 will be necessary to be successful. Emphasis also is given in the study of electricity and understanding how it is used. Systems studied are, ignition, fuel, carburetion, fuel injection, diesel, batteries, starting, hydraulics, brakes, wheel bearings and tires and wheels. Students will learn trouble shooting and diagnosis applying what they learn in these systems. The hands-on experience includes some live work, but mainly working with mock-ups and practicing skills with worksheets on actual vehicles. The electrical theory and skills learned in the 1st semester will be required to be successful in all future semesters of Auto. Approximately 50% of the time will be spent in the classroom (most of the 1st. nine weeks) and 50% spent in the shop (most of the 4th nine weeks).
