The Medical Technologist is responsible for the analysis of laboratory specimens and subsequent result reporting according to laboratory protocol and procedures. This position performs requested clinical procedures on body fluids and clinical procedures related to patient care; performs quality control maintenance and trouble shooting on laboratory instruments, performs clerical work in the absence of a technical assistant and assist the manager in any capacity requested. He/She does an inventory assessment and order supplies as needed. This person performs tracking for specimens coming to the laboratory and helps with the send outs to reference laboratories and receive and approve same results.

The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Medical Technology (Clinical Laboratory Science) or equivalent that would qualify for Florida State Technologist license

• Current Florida state license as a Medical Technologist

The Medical Technologist Senior is responsible for the analysis of laboratory specimens and subsequent result reporting according to laboratory protocol and procedures. The Medical Technologist Senior position performs requested clinical procedures on body fluids and clinical procedures related to patient care; performs quality control, maintenance, troubleshooting on laboratory instruments; performs clerical work in the absence of a technical assistant; assists in inventory assessment and order supplies as needed. This person performs send outs to reference laboratories and receive and approve same results. This person has involvement with training and ensuring competency of team members. The Medical Technologist Senior performs QA and QC review, blood utilization audits/review, and billing for blood bank and send out departments. This position takes responsibility for the laboratory department in the absence of the laboratory manager and assist supervisor with policy/procedure writing/review, scheduling of team members, and to any other capacity requested.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Medical Technology (Clinical Laboratory Science) or equivalent that would qualify for Florida State Technologist license
