There are various tests that are used for college entrance, scholarship requirements, and college course placement:
ACT - used as a college entrance exam, a scholarship requirement, and for college course placement by almost all colleges and universities in the United States. You must register for national test dates online at www.act.org. The CHS code is 172-940. For information about ACT test prep workshops, go to www.powerprepinc.com. All juniors can sign up to take the ACT at Circle High School during the spring semester at no cost.
SAT - used as a college entrance exam for colleges and universities on the east and west coasts. You must register online at www.sat.org/register. The CHS code is 172-940. This test is NOT required for colleges in the state of Kansas.
PSAT - used as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Sophomores take it for practice, and juniors' scores are submitted for National Merit consideration. It is given at school during mid-October (a national test date). There is a fee of approximately $20, and a study guide is provided. For additional information, click here.
Accuplacer - used for placement in Butler Community College classes and most other Community College program entrances This is offered both in the Fall and Spring Semesters at CHS. ASVAB - The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery is used for placement in the military and offers students an opportunity to learn about their career aptitudes. Sub-tests include mechanical reasoning, electronics information, and auto and shop information. This test is free and administered in the Spring Semester at CHS to those who sign up.
