Karyn is a poet from the Big Island of Hawai'i. She is an avid slipper wearer and long hair enthusiast.

Madi

Madi is currently pursuing an M.A. in English and has bachelor's degrees in English and in Cinema and Digital Media. She loves studying and researching pop-culture; particularly comics and graphic novels, and that’s what she spend a lot of my free time doing! She really enjoys reading webcomics, playing video games, and cooking when she has some time to spare. She loves to work with all kinds of papers and subjects!

Mia

Certified to Work with Neurodiverse Writers

Mia is pursuing a bachelor's degree in psychology with a neuroscience minor at UNLV. Although Mia is originally from the Bay Area, she grew up in Henderson, Nevada where she was a preschool teacher's assistant. Mia wants to obtain a PhD in neuropsychology and conduct research on memory and cognitive disorders. In her free time, she loves playing the piano, running, and baking. Mia enjoys working with all types of papers.

Michael

Michael is an MFA candidate in fiction. He is from Portland, Oregon and is working on a novel. In his free time he likes to get outdoors or play guitar.

Mir

Certified to Work with Neurodiverse Writers

Mir Arif is an MFA Creative Writing candidate at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. For the past two and a half years, he has worked with a wide range of students at the UNLV Writing Center including multilingual writers, helping them with brainstorming, expanding and organizing their papers. Besides writing and reading, he likes to travel and learn a new language.

Naseem

A Las Vegas native and Dutch-American, Naseem is pursuing a B.A in Political Science with a minor in mathematics and an M.A in Political Science. His research interests sit within the intersection of European institutions, identities, and voting behavior in Political Science. He is a tea fanatic and enjoys working with all kinds of papers.

Savannah

Savannah is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences at UNLV. Born and raised in Las Vegas, she is planning to applying to medical school to become a physician for the growing Las Vegas community. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her dogs and reading. She enjoys helping writers of all disciplines!

Sotodeh

Certified to Work with Multilingual Writers

A Las Vegas native, Sotodeh graduated from UNLV with an M.S in Biological Sciences within the School of Life Sciences. Her love for moss (which she describes as simplistic and understated, yet incredibly resilient and complex) has driven her research, which focuses on the desiccation and light tolerance in arid-land mosses. She has been consulting at our Writing Center for four years alongside teaching the BIOL 191 (Intro to Organismal Biology) lab. In addition to being the Queen of Moss and sewing in her spare time, she also enjoys reading pop culture analysis and poetry. She loves working with writers to help them overcome writer’s block, especially with CVs, resumes, and personal statements.
