My Philosophy in Teaching
There are 2 sayings that I always remember
“When something is worth doing, It’s worth doing well”
“Teaching is an art and it has nothing to do with scientific degree.
The teachers I have had who stand out in my memory have some attributes in common. They presented their subjects in a way that caught my interest, clarified different topics and put knowledge into context so that its relevance was apparent. Those great models have influenced my approach to teaching. I view myself primarily as a facilitator of learning, rather than as an expert who simply delivers information to students. When planning a curriculum or interacting with students, I am always conscious of their different learning styles, needs and rates, what they have already learned and what they will need in the future. I believe that most significant learning occurs in situations that are both meaningful and realistic and teachers who demonstrate curiosity and passion about a subject area will motivate the students to learn..
Learning needs to be taught and a habit that needs to be cultivated. Lastly but not the least, I, as a teacher must strive to inspire my students not just with my knowledge, skills or powers of deduction, but by demonstrating the passion for medicine that will spark the students’ desire to be the best of the best.
