2022-23 Unity High School Curriculum Guide
Advanced Placement Courses
Advanced Placement or AP courses are rigorous academic programs meant to prepare high school students for college-level work. Unity High School is pleased to offer four AP courses: AP Biology, AP Calculus AB, AP English Language and AP Statistics. At the conclusion of each AP course, students have the option of taking an AP Exam in an effort to earn college credit. Students enrolled in Chemistry II are also welcome to take the AP Chemistry exam. For more information about AP courses or exams, please speak to your counselor.
Early College and Career Academy at Parkland College
The Early College and Career Academy (ECCA) is a partnership between Education for Employment #330, Parkland College and Unity High School. ECCA courses offer high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to get a head start on coursework for their chosen career or college major. Students must meet all eligibility requirements to participate in the ECCA.
Course Information
ECCA courses are offered at Parkland College from 7:30-9:30 AM Monday through Friday. Students will follow Parkland’s calendar for these courses--not Unity’s.
Cost
The Unit 7 Board of Education has agreed to pay a portion of the tuition for ECCA students. Students are responsible for 50% of the tuition. This can be paid as one payment at registration or two payments due at registration and January 3rd, 2022. Students are responsible for transportation to and from Parkland College. Foreign Language Requirements
Although there is no Foreign Language requirement to graduate from Unity, several colleges and universities have a minimum requirement for admissions. Please consult with your intended college(s) on what this requirement may be.
Graduation Requirements
Students must have a minimum of 21 credits to graduate from Unity High School. These credits include English (4); Math (3); Social Studies (3); Science (2); Physical Education (1.75); Health (0.5); Electives (6.75).

Summer School
Summer school is available only to those students needing Credit Recovery. Talk to your counselor about which summer school option is best for you.
Students with disabilities who do not qualify for an individualized education program (IEP), as required by the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and the Illinois School Code, may qualify for services under Section 504 of the federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973 if the child (i) has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, (ii) has a record of a physical or mental impairment, or (iii) is regarded as having a physical or mental impairment.
