Abstract
The study was carried out to determine the effects of teaching and learning processes using graphical organizer techniques for achieving understanding expository Malay text reading. The approach used was a Quasi-Experimental Design with Pre-test and Post-test Similar Control Group in which the respondent is composed of 60 students in Form 4. Data obtained using a pre-test and post-test on the pre Questions Individual Achievement and Individual Achievement post Questions. This study found that the group of students who use graphic organizer technique is to obtain an understanding of the reading achievement better than students who were not using graphics organizer techniques in the use of critical thinking skills. In addition, a group of students who use graphic organizer technique is to obtain an understanding of the reading achievement better than students who were not using graphics organizer techniques in terms of the ability to answer the questions according to Bloom's taxonomy of cognitive domain. The group of students who do not use graphic organizer technique is to obtain an understanding of the reading achievement better than the students who use graphics organizer techniques in the use of various forms of expository text structure in terms of the Malay language and practice of practical use during study treatment or intervention. Based on these findings, a number of practical recommendations suggested that students are able to improve the performance of expository Malay text reading comprehension.
