Fabio Celani received his Laurea degree (summa cum laude) in electronic engineering from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, Rome, Italy in 1996, and his M.S. and D.Sc. degrees in systems science and mathematics from Washington University in St. Louis, St. Louis, MO, USA in 1999 and 2003, respectively. He was a research associate at the Center for Ships and Ocean Structures of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway from 2003 to 2005, and at the Department of Computer and System Sciences Antonio Ruberti of Sapienza University of Rome, Rome, Italy, from 2005 to 2010. Since 2010, he is assistant professor with tenure at Sapienza University of Rome, Rome, Italy; initially he was with the Department of Astronautical, Electrical, and Energy Engineering, and currently he is with the School of Aerospace Engineering. He held visiting positions at the Mittag-Leffler Institute, Djursholm, Sweden in 2003 and at Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Chennai, India in 2019. He was an adjunct professor at e-Campus University, Novedrate (CO), Italy from 2008 to 2011.
His current research interests lie in the field of control of aerospace vehicles. His past research interests included nonlinear control theory and control of power systems.
He is a topic editor of Aerospace from 2020. He was an associate editor of the International Journal of Automation and Computing from 2011 to 2013, and he is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Mechatronics and Automation.
