Prof. Vincenzo Lattanzio was born in Barletta (Puglia, Italy) January 5, 1949.
He is graduated in Chemistry from the Faculty of Science of the University of Bari in the year 1973. In the January 1974, he obtained a scholarship (since 18/2/1974 to 30/11/1975) to study at the Institute of Agronomy (Faculty of Agriculture) in the University of Bari.
Assistant professor since 1/12/1975 to 31/1/1977 at the Institute of Agronomy (Faculty of Agriculture) in the University of Bari.
Researcher since 1/2/1977 to 7/10/1987 at National Research Council (Industrial Horticulture Research Center), Bari.
Associated Professor of Plant Biochemistry since 8/10/1987 to 31/10/1991 at the Institute of Agricultural Chemistry (Faculty of Agriculture) in the University of Basilicata, Potenza. Afterwards, Associated Professor of Plant Physiology since 1/11/1991 to 28/12/2004 at the Institute of Agronomy - Department of Biology and Agro-Forestry and Environmental Chemistry (Faculty of Agriculture) in the University of Bari.
Full Professor of Plant Biochemistry since 29/12/2004 at Faculty of Agriculture (Department of Agro-environmental Science, Chemistry and Plant Defence - Department of Sciences of Agriculture, Food and Environment, University of Foggia.
As a winner of a “NATO Senior Fellowship Scheme”, was Visiting Researcher (since 12/5 to 12/7/1980, since 15/6 to 12/7/1981, since 16/8 to 30/9/1984, and since 16/8 to 15/9/1985) in the “Laboratorium voor Plantenbiochemie”, Rijksuniversiteit, Gent (Belgium), where he has been developing research concerning the physiological role of plant phenolics.
Since 01/08/1994 to 31/03/2002 he was Director of Institute of Horticultural and Industrial Crops, National Research Council, Tito Scalo (Potenza).
Since 16/12/2010 to 15/06/2012 he was Director of Department of Agro-environmental Science, Chemistry and Plant Defence, University of Foggia. In the same University He has been Coordinator of the PHD school “Food Quality and Human Nutrition” (since XXIII to XXVII cycle) and Coordinator ofs econd cycle degree “Agricultural Science and Technology” since academic year 2010/2011 to 2014/2015.

Since 2006 to 2010 he was “Chief Editor” of the book series "Recent Advances in Polyphenol Research” (Wiley-Blackwell, Oxford, UK).
The 14/7/2016 he received the “Groupe Polyphenol Medal” for his contribution to research in the field of plant phenolics.
