It seemed a normal day in the Mountain, business as usual. Dwarves
roamed the streets with only regular concerns to occupy the mind. Dredin
grumbled at everyone who approached. Yes, everything appeared to be running
smoothly.
Then came the first rumble. Dwarves stared around, startled, but shrugged
it off.
Then came the second.
The Mountain began to shake and debris flew in every direction. Akxo and
Kroft informed the King that trouble was brewing and the three of them
spread about the city looking for answers.
Akxo sped through the streets, tending to any wounded he could see, but
primarily looking for signs of cracks in the earth, perhaps the earth under
the Mountain was in upheaval? After some time he settled upon watching the
South Gate.
Cries were heard from all around. It sounded like the nearby mine was
caving in, and rocks were pelting dwarves in the streets of Thaxanos. The
King called for all dwarves to return home and assist, but still no one knew
what was causing this madness.
Then Akxo saw something. It was a brief glimpse of the shadow of a figure,
holding what appeared to be a blue orb. He yelled out to the King and the
shadow disappeared. After attempts to locate the figure, Kraxul ran back
into the city limits to examine the damage and search for enemies.
Akxo stood watch at the south gate with two officers of the guard. On the
horizon a deep laughter could be heard. There was nothing to be seen, but
suddenly a wave of cold air knocked Akxo and the guards backwards. Akxo
stumbled but stayed afoot. The same could not be said for the two guards,
who had been forced to the ground by the chill.
Ice began to cover them, too quickly for Akxo to intervene, and within
moments the two guards were encased in blocks of ice. Akxo called out for
the King to return and he came swiftly.
