Will a Pacific Islander develop a more effective cholera vaccine?

Will a Caribbean learn how to regulate immune responses to dengue?

Will an Eastern European discover a better tuberculosis drug?

Will an African cure AIDS?

Will an African cure AIDS?

Thank you for your interest in the Michigan Infectious Disease International Scholars fund, and welcome to the MIDIS Web page. The long term goals of the fund are to provide basic biomedical research training to students who are citizens or residents of disease endemic nations on par with the training afforded to US citizen or permanent resident trainees by the National Institutes of Health. Our philosophy is that infectious disease is a global problem and that global peace, health, and prosperity will all be improved if biomedical science is given a more international face. We leverage the entry of talented international trainees into the University of Michigan’s highly ranked Microbiology and Immunology doctoral training program, thus preparing these highly motivated individuals to become leaders in the global fight against infectious disease.
