Biological Rhythms

Attached below are the syllabus, detailed schedule (readings and lecture topics), and assignments for a Biological Rhythms course that I ran at the University of Michigan for several semesters in 2012-2013 (PSYCH 435).

This course focused on discussion of the primary literature, analysis, and group work. In this class, students worked intensively in teams to complete tasks for PhaseAdvance, a fictitious “Biological Rhythms consulting firm.” As part of the course, the students tracked their own sleep and activity rhythms and examined variables that might contribute to college sleep disruption. At the end of the semester, the students also designed and tested their own experimental intervention to improve student health on campus.
