Dr. John Maassab

Since 1952, when he came to the University of Michigan as a graduate student, Hunein F. "John" Maassab was an active member and leader of the Epidemiology Department.  He is best known for developing the flu vaccine we know as FluMist, which has been given to millions of people to prevent the spread of influenza.

The MAC-EPID symposium "Vaccines past, present, and future" held on November 6 & 7, 2014 honored his life and his work.
