Principal's Letter

Dear Ranger Families,

My name is Mike Ensor, but most of you may know me as “Acey.” I am a graduate of Unaka High School and currently reside in Stoney Creek with my wife, Mitzi. I received my bachelor’s degree from ETSU in Biology, with an education certification. I completed my Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision, as well as an Educational Specialist Degree in Leadership from Union College in Kentucky. I have been an educator for 26 years, and have served in the role of teacher, assistant principal, and principal. I worked my first year as a teacher in the Johnson County School System, and have worked in the Carter County School System for the other 25 years. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my grandchildren, and fishing.

I truly appreciate your patience this year as we are beginning a school year with many new faculty members. Schedule changes and unexpected events may occur, daily activities may be altered, and day to day routines may be disrupted. Even during these experiences that may occur, I am proud to say one thing is certain...our Rangers will tackle each obstacle, and continue to be successful.

Our devoted faculty have spent hours planning, learning, and preparing in order to provide your student with the best possible learning opportunities. You can rest assured your children are being provided with a thorough curriculum that will promote academic growth. Thank you to all who are helping this school year run smoothly. I appreciate your commitment to ensuring that Unaka High School remains a success. Together, I know we will celebrate many accomplishments and achievements for our students in the 2022-2023 school year.

Mike “Acey” Ensor
