This page lists ongoing UAH STEM Outreach activities for K-12 students. STEM Help does not run these programs, but provides this list to help educators, parents, and students find out about and access STEM opportunities through the University.   

Alabama Science and Engineering Fair (ASEF)

This Alabama-wide competition, hosted by UAH, is attended by students who have won top awards at their school and Regional Science Fair.

BEST Experience

This week-long residential summer camp gives high school students a taste of Being an Engineering STudent at UAH. Students go to engineering classes, perform hands-on experiments in engineering labs, participate in UAH student life activities, work on project teams, live in the residence halls and eat at campus dining facilities.

Innovative System Project for the Increased Recruitment of Emerging STEM Students

The InSPIRESS program is a semester long design competition that improves students' self efficacy and awareness of STEM fields. The curriculum is provided to all students and teachers, and includes support from University instructors through school visits, Skype, and video.

North Alabama Regional Science and Engineering Fair (NARSEF)

NARSEF is a scientific competition for 5th - 12th grade students.. This science fair offers students an opportunity to showcase their independent research to the public and compete scholastically with their peers.

Rocket City WeatherFest

Local Huntsville student and professional chapters of the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association will host this FREE Weather Festival that is great for weather enthusiasts of all ages! Come sit in real storm chasing and weather research vehicles, attend Severe Weather 101, check out storm shelters, and participate in hands-on demonstrations and kids’ crafts.

Science Olympiad

Each spring, UAH hosts the Alabama Science Olympiad Championship for the North Alabama region's middle and high school teams. These students use scientific knowledge, deduction, and analysis to complete a variety of activities. The top teams advance to the statewide competition.
