Bio: Merri Gensley is in her 37th year of teaching at Tuscarawas Valley High School, where she serves as high school band director. Ms.Gensley's primary responsibilities are the high school marching, concert, and jazz bands. She has also taught Music Theory 1, AP Music Theory, History of Rock and Roll, Beginning Guitar, and 6th Grade General Music and assists with 5th through 8th grade bands at Tuscarawas Valley Middle School.

Prior to her employment at Tuscarawas Valley, Ms. Gensley taught seven years in area schools. She was president of Tusky Valley, Inc., a non-profit organization that donated over $700,000 back to the music and athletic departments of Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools for 15 years. Ms. Gensley has been a director/chaperone with the All Ohio Ambassadors of Music Summer European Tour since 2005. 

Ms. Gensley holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Kent State University and a Master of Music Education from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, Illinois, with an additional forty semester hours of varied course work from universities across the country.

Ms. Gensley is a member of the Ohio Music Education Association and National Association for Music Education. The Tusky Valley Concert Band has consistently received superior and excellent ratings in OMEA adjudicated events at the district and state levels.
