“The Scoutmaster Conference is a visit between the Scoutmaster and a Scout that is held each time the boy completes the requirements for a rank. The conference is a valuable opportunity for a Scoutmaster to discuss with each Scout his activity in the troop and his understanding and practice of the ideals of Scouting” – Scoutmaster Handbook
When you have completed all the requirements for a rank except Scout Spirit, Scoutmaster Conference, and Board of Review, please contact the Scoutmaster to make an appointment for your Scoutmaster Conference. Request an Individual History Report from the Troop Records Coordinator who will send a copy to the Scoutmaster for review before your conference.
Things to remember regarding a Scoutmaster Conference:
Wear your complete Scout uniform
Bring your Scout Handbook
Be prepared to talk about what you like about the troop, what you dislike about the troop, and your Scouting goals
The Scoutmaster Conference is not a retest of your Scouting skills to determine if you “pass” the rank; however, you may be asked to demonstrate or explain Scouting skills for your rank to determine the effectiveness of our training program and to ensure that Scouts and Leaders signing off requirements are maintaining a consistently high standard
Scoutmaster Conferences may be held at any time to address disciplinary or motivational issues
Scoutmaster Conferences for Scout – 2nd Class ranks may be held during troop meetings while those for higher ranks will be held outside the troop meetings at the Scoutmaster’s discretion
