US Government

Ours has been described as a “government of the people, by the people, and for the people.” You are “the people”, and the well-being of our communities depends on your ability to wisely lead as a citizen. This course will help you understand the foundations of our government, its three branches, state and local government, the election process, effective citizenship, and the principles of the U.S. Constitution and their relationship to well-informed individuals in a free society. Through readings, discussion, writing, primary source analysis, simulations, reflections and much else, this course aims to help you become an informed, active, and conscientious participant in all aspect of public life.
