Syllabus
Welcome French Falcons and Family!
My name is Mrs. Hirt and I will be your child's World Geography and Kansas History teacher for the upcoming school year. I am excited to get to know your child and am thrilled to be able to share knowledge of our world with them. I have very high expectations for my students, both academically and behaviorally, and between the work of the student, parents/guardians and myself, there is not a doubt in my mind that those expectations can be met. Let's all work together to have an excellent year. In the first semester students will explore the different regions of the world and investigate how people have adapted. World Geography is more than learning how to read maps or memorize countries, it is also about the environment, places, people and cultures as well as the relationship between people and the environment. History is everywhere, including our own backyard. In the first semester students will gain knowledge and an appreciation of Kansas. It is important to learn about the foundations of American citizenship, our government, our economy and how they are relevant in the world today. By the end of the year, students will have a better understanding of the world and a deeper appreciation of the people who live in it.
