Our whole school came together to observe the two-minute silence at the church in remembrance of those who gave their lives for our freedom. Led by our proud standard bearers, the children walked down to the church with quiet reflection and respect.
During the service, pupils from Years 4, 5 and 6 read aloud the names of the fallen soldiers of Ixworth with great compassion and sincerity — a truly moving moment for everyone present. We also took time to admire the beautiful artwork displayed in the church, created by our talented pupils to honour remembrance.
Afterwards, Eagles Class visited the cemetery to pay their respects and lay a small wooden cross in memory of the families and loved ones lost in the wars.
We are incredibly proud of our children for the maturity, empathy and respect they showed throughout this important day of remembrance.
“At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.”
