During our L.I.M.E. Days (Late, Incomplete, Missing, Enrichment), one of the activities students may participate in is Google's CS First. CS First is a free, easy-to-use computer science curriculum designed for students in grades 4-8 (ages 9-14).
You can learn more here: About CS First
In order for your child to participate in CS First, the District requires a parent consent form to be signed. You may access the form here: CS First Parent Consent
Click on the link for Tewksbury's Aspen Page--> Tewksbury Aspen
Enter the student's log-in ID which is their last name, first initial and year of graduation (example: doej29 . . . must be lowercase).
Enter the student password*. The students were given a 5-digit passcode and they should have written it on the same page of their agenda where their Edutyping information is located.
If you receive a message that the account is locked, the student will need to fill out a form in my room and bring it to the Ryan School office. (Teachers do not have the ability to do this.)
*Parents may have gone in and changed the password although the district advises against it. If so, you would enter that instead of the 5-digit number on the sticker.
Tewksbury has adopted Google Apps for Education. This allows students to access and work on their assignments anywhere they have an internet connection. It also helps eliminate the issues with not having the correct software at home or not having a compatible version.
Google Docs--word processing
Google Sheets--spreadsheet
Google Slide--presentation
Google Email--email that is for school-use only
Google Draw--drawing
Google Drive--where all of a student's work is saved
Go into Google.com
Click on the Sign In button in the upper right-hand corner
Student's user name is their lastname, first initial, year of graduation @tewksbury.k12.ma.us (no commas or spaces). Example: doej29@tewksbury.k12.ma.us)
Student's password is their two initials uppercase, #, and their 5050xxxx number (which they use often and should know). Example: JD#50509835)
The student should have this information written in a location in their agenda.
It is important to stress to the student that they SHOULD NOT share their log-in information with anyone (much like you would not share your social security number). We have gone over the importance of this in class, but we cannot emphasize it enough.
