  • Melody: Identify and perform pitches that move up, down, and repeat.
  • Expressive Elements: Sing with appropriate tone and technique.
  • Attitudes and Approaches to Learning: Follow directions, participate in class activities; show respect for others and materials.
First Grade Curriculum

  • Rhythm: Read and perform rhythmic patterns over a steady beat.
  • Melody: Read and perform pitches that move by step.
  • Expressive Elements: Sing with appropriate tone and technique.
  • Analysis: Evaluate compositions considering the element of dynamics. 
  • Attitudes and Approaches to Learning: Follow directions, participate in class activities; show respect for others and materials.
Second Grade Curriculum

  • Melody: Read and perform pitches that repeat or move by steps or skips.
  • Expressive Elements: Sing with appropriate tone and technique.
  • Analysis: Evaluate compositions considering the element of form.
  • Attitudes and Approaches to Learning: Follow directions, participate in class activities; show respect for others and materials.
Third Grade Curriculum



Fourth Grade Report Card Standards
  • Rhythm: Read and perform rhythmic patterns in various meters.
  • Melody: Read and perform music on a recorder from standard notation with appropriate tone and technique.
  • Expressive Elements: Sing with appropriate tone and technique.
  • Analysis: Evaluate compositions considering the element of tone color (instrumentation).
  • Attitudes and Approaches to Learning: Follow directions, participate in class activities; show respect for others and materials.
Fourth Grade Curriculum



Fifth Grade Report Card Standards
  • Rhythm: Read and perform rhythmic patterns in various meters.
  • Melody: Read and perform pitches from standard notation.
  • Analysis: Evaluate compositions considering the elements of pitch, rhythm, form, dynamics, and tone color (instrumentation).
  • Attitudes and Approaches to Learning: Follow directions, participate in class activities; show respect for others and materials.
