The Growing Garden @ Tappan is a place where Tappan Middle School students and the community can grow as individuals along with the plants they tend, developing a lifelong appreciation for food, diversity, and the environment.
Our Mission Statement is to cultivate a vibrant, safe, hands-on learning environment fostering connection to nature, student health and wellness, academic engagement, and environmental and community stewardship.
Our Goals
Enrich student education by using the garden to aid teachers in academic subjects through hands-on lessons.
Create more opportunities for garden-based learning such as before/after school programs and more volunteer opportunities for youth and families.
Address health and environmental issues by teaching the importance of food choice, gardening skills, and ecological knowledge.
Build relationships through special events and volunteer opportunities.
Create experiences that promote social emotional learning.
Summer Garden Adoption - Adopt the Garden for a week in the summer and enjoy taking home fresh produce and flowers all week! This cherished program fills up fast.
