Assignments

Homework is generally given Monday through Thursday nights. Weekends may be used for long term projects, independent reading, and “catch up.”

Students are given time in class to record assignments in their planners.

During a typical week there would be:

• Novel packet comprehension questions in a small group
• Whole group oral reading and discussion
• Close reading of short passages with lessons connecting to the Common Core Standards
• Vocabulary Study
• Writing entries as reading response
• Reading Skills practice
• Figurative Language incorporated within lessons and discussions
• Grammar lessons and writing conventions
