Literacy Google Classroom:

Sixth grade literacy consists of the two main components: reading and writing, with instruction focused and paced throughout four quarterly units. The basic structure of literacy consists of focused reading and writing minilessons (includes daily/weekly standards focus, reading, writing, and discussing complex texts, and assessments) and reading lab (includes independent reading, small group, focused work, instruction, and assessments). Literacy resources utilized by students include literacy notebooks, a literacy binder, individual student writer’s notebooks, Chromebooks including the literacy Google Classroom, and a variety of other classroom and school resources, particularly texts.
At the intermediate level, students are developing and building on their reading skills. The best way to do this is regularly read a variety of text at their "just right" level. Students will be using their "just right" independent reading books, class read alouds, mentor texts, texts from guided reading groups, readers and writers notebooks, as well as other materials during class instruction and homework.
