The Collin County Soil and Water Conservation District, or CCSWCD, covers all of Collin County. SWCDs are a subdivision of state government, like a county or a school district. All plans of work, programs, and activities of the district are developed according to the local needs of the county. SWCDs across the state partner with federal, state, and local agencies, with their primary conservation partner being the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). Through this partnership, SWCDs work to bring an understanding of the needs of soil and water conservation.
The CCSWCD has a board of directors which consists of five local landowners and are elected by fellow farmers and ranchers. Each of the directors represents a different area of the county in which the director owns land and is actively involved in farming and/or ranching.
The Current Collin County SWCD board members are as follows:
District 1 - Heather Strait
District 2 - Clay Russell, Secretary
District 3 - Ben Scholz, Chairman
District 4 - Rick Foster, Vice Chairman
District 5 - Bill Stelzer
