Distance Learning Plans
April 13-17, 2020
Hello all! I hope all of your families continue to stay healthy during this difficult time. Thank you for your patience as we all figure this out together. This week we will continue to learn new material. I hope to see many of you at our Spackenkill Parade!
1. Continue to check Google Classroom on a daily basis.
2. Google Chats will be loaded on Google Classroom a few minutes before the scheduled time. This week we will meet on Monday, April 13th and Thursday, April 16th @ 10:00 am. I will also have office hours on Wednesday @ 10:00 am if you have questions or need help with something you can jump on the chat. Remember you can email me and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
3. I have and will continue to keep track of who is turning in work on a daily basis. Students should click the “TURN IN” button once they are done with Google Classroom assignments.
4. I will try to go over all math work during our meeting time. Please try to have Monday-Wednesday assignments completed for our Thursday meeting.

● Pick any word when you’re reading and think of a synonym (word that means the same) or an antonym for that word
● Go on a prefix or suffix hunt in something you read
Math:
● Find fractions in a recipe
● Play math games: ○ With playing cards
■ Math War (both players flip two cards; decide together to multiply, add or subtract the numbers; highest answer wins)

Science:
● Observe and predict the weather (record the temperature and take notes about the precipitation, wind, etc.)
● Make a water cycle model and explain to someone how it works (collection, evaporation, condensation, precipitation
○ One way: use a ziploc bag, put some water in it, tilt it so the water collects in a corner of the bag, hang it up and observe it
○ Another way: use a clear cup, put a small amount of water in it, cover the top of the cup with plastic wrap, put a rubber band over the top to secure it Mindfulness:
● Take a walk, breath in through your nose for 3 seconds and let that air out through your nose for 6 seconds, do one of our yoga poses, walk away from your screen/ video game and help someone in your house (it will make you feel really good), draw a picture
Go to “gym, art, library, or music”
Send me a picture of anything you do and want to share!!!
