My education background consists of a bachelor's degree in secondary education, social studies from Clarion University and a master's degree in secondary education, social studies from Edinboro University. I also have minors in political science, history, and coaching. My student teaching took place at Redbank Valley High School and Colegio Americano de Guatemala in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
When I am not at school, my life revolves around my family. My husband is a teacher at Rocky Grove High School and we are the proud parents of twin boys, Jack and Carter. We love raising our boys in this close-knit, family-friendly community and are very happy to be a part of it!
When I have a few rare minutes of spare time, I enjoy reading (mostly history related books), watching Netflix, and being a Pittsburgh sports spectator!
My name is Jami Lyons and this year will mark my 12th year teaching 11th grade world history at Franklin Area High School. Since my time at FHS, I have taught all levels of world history. I will also be teaching a Holocaust History class for the second year & Sociology will be back on my schedule as well! I have also had the pleasure of teaching 10th grade Vo-tech U.S. history and 12th grade Vo-tech government and economics.
During my time at Franklin I have also been a part of the athletic scene as the head volleyball coach and assistant athletic director. Although I am no longer active in those positions, I still enjoy supporting our Franklin Knights in all of their endeavors (sports, music, talent shows, etc.)!
It is very unusual for me to miss a game of any kind (unless Jack and Carter dictate otherwise)!
