The Behavior Analyst Certification Board®, Inc. (BACB®) was established in 1998 to meet professional credentialing needs. The BACB administers the examinations several times per year in over 200 sites within the United States and over 150 sites outside the US. Purdue Global's Verified Course Sequences in Applied Behavior Analysis are verified by the Association of Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) to meet the education requirements of the BACB. This link is to the BACB's Fifth Edition Task List. The BACB Fifth Edition Task list consists of two major sections: 1) Foundations, 2) Applications. The BACB Fifth Edition Task List is a study tool for those who will be applying for their BCBA or BCaBA exam beginning January 1, 2022.
These guidelines were developed by the BACB in order to provide guidance to health plans, consumers, and providers so that individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are more likely to receive behavior-analytic treatment consistent with the best available scientific evidence and expert clinical opinion.

This link provides you with all necessary information about the BACB exams. The BCBA exam has approximately 150 multiple choice questions with four possible responses for each question. The BCaBA has approximately 130 multiple choice questions with four possible responses for each question. Beginning in 2026, the exams will be based on the TCO6. This is the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) website. The BACB is the credentialing board for Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA). The BACB also provides oversight for renewal and recertification for these credentials, sets the ethical guidelines for behavior analysts, establishes disciplinary standards for violations of the ethical standards, a registry for BCBA and BCaBAs, approval for university course sequences, procedures and approval for continuing education for BCBAs and BCaBAs, and development and maintenance of certification examinations for BCBAs and BCaBAs.

Per the BACB, veterans who meet the qualifications for the GI Bill can have their certification examination fees reimbursed. Qualifying individuals do not have to pass the exam to guarantee reimbursement. See additional details via the link provided.

The BCBA and the BCaBA examinations are administered using a computer-based testing (CBT) format. It is recommended that you take the computer based testing tutorial, so that you are prepared to take the exam.
