Why Is Band Important?

- Over 85% of the Pleasant Valley High School Band was honored at the 2021 Academic Awards Night for earning at or above a 3.0 GPA, with nearly half of those being honored at or above a 4.0.

- In 2021, 16 out of 21 6th Grade Math Bee team members are in the 6th Grade Band.

- Over the past several years, PV band students have received over $100,000 in music scholarships from various colleges and universities.

- PV Band alumni have performed or are currently performing in collegiate concert, jazz, and marching bands across the country including Iowa, Iowa State, UNI, Eastman School of Music, North Texas, Notre Dame, Michigan, USC, Purdue, North Carolina, Yale, Princeton, Brown, Northwestern, New England School of Music, BYU, and many other colleges and universities.

-The longer an individual studies instrumental music, the higher his/her scores tend to be on both the verbal and math portions of the ACT and SAT exams. The average ACT score of the 2021 PVHS Wind Symphony (the highest performing ensemble) was a 29.8!

-90% of the high school band students are involved in other school activities. Every sport, club, or activity that takes place in the high school is represented within the band. This is also true at the junior high level!
