All students registering for CHE 131 in Summer Session I must complete the Online Chemistry Placement and Preparation (OCPP) process. Students have to register on the Summer/Fall 2026 OCPP Course based on Pearson's Mastering Chemistry software. As explained on the Guidance and Instructions page, this registration process is done after accessing the university's OCPP Chemistry Placement 2026 Brightspace site.
(Please note that when working on the OCPP Mastering Chemistry Course you can stop anytime and, afterwards, start where you left off).
Complete the CHE 129/131 Objective (average 5 hours). Some students take significantly longer so plan accordingly. You will know that you are done when when your percentage score for the CHE 129/131 Objective in the Mastering grade book is 99% or higher. If you finish the objective with a less than 99% score you must retake the full objective. Please note that you only have up to four possibilities to retake the objective.
Wait for your OCPP score to be uploaded to the Stony Brook University Registrar's database. This should take no more than one business day from the time you have completed the process.
You must complete the OCPP before Thursday May 21st at 8:00 PM EST in order to register in CHE 131 Summer Session I.
Specific information on how to access the OCPP Chemistry Placement 2026 Brightspace site is given in the Guidance & Instructions page (towards the bottom of that webpage).
