Reading: Students will gain knowledge about the Adventure story genre, read "Treasure Island", use context clues to make meaning of unknown words/vocabulary, and make inferences to aid in comprehension.
Spelling/Phonics; Our lists this month will focus on words that have "-le" ending spelling patterns

Language Arts; Writing/Grammar/Speaking & Listening:. Writing; develop our opinion and adventure story writing skills and engage in planning and revising of their writing. Grammar; review parts of speech; correctly identify and use conjunctions, word roots and homophones. Introduce prepositions
Speaking and Listening; develop speaking and listening skills during small group discussions and readers' theater
Math: Geometry; The students will use strategies to identify and draw different lines and 3 and 4 sided figures as well as recognize and draw shapes with symmetry
Religion: The students will develop a deeper understanding about the Beatitudes, Apostles Creed, and the Works of Mercy
Science: The students will demonstrate understanding of Life Science concepts; how the brain responds, plant and animal structures and adaptations
Social Studies: The students will learn about economic concepts
Technology: The students will continue improving keyboarding fluency, draft and submit writing in Google Docs and use IXL and Read Theory to support and enrich mastery of math and language arts standards
