PHILOSOPHY
Our goal is to have fun while learning about track and field, and while improving our fitness and skill levels. Track and Field is a sport in which personal achievement is just as important as team achievement, and by improving yourself you improve the team. Everyone will try all of the events: running, sprinting, jumping, and throwing. Together, we will decide the events in which you’ll compete at meets. But, the main purpose is to enjoy the process!
PRACTICES
Attendance will be taken at practices, and you must attend practices to participate in meets.
We depart promptly at 3:30 by bus and return to school by 5:15.
Buses cannot wait for late students.
What to Bring to Practices:
On the first day:
Your medical/liability release form.
You cannot practice without this signed form – no exceptions.
A parent phone call or note cannot legally substitute for the signed form.
Every day:
proper attire, water bottle or sports drink
Mandatory: running or cross training sneakers (not: basketball shoes, Converse, Keds, Sketchers, etc)
Mandatory: sweatpants or track pants AND a sweatshirt, fleece, or warm windbreaker (since it's on the river the track gets very cold, so dress warmer than you think you'd need to)
Mandatory: long hair must be pulled back (pony tail or braid) throughout every practice and meet
Mandatory: proper undergarments (undergarments should not be visible)
Optional but suggested: hat and gloves, small towel, lip balm, sunscreen, energizing snack
