“Whatever you do for the least of my brothers and sisters, you do for me.” Matthew 25:40
The Old and New Testament are the biblical origins for the Corporal Works of Mercy, which reflect the Church’s teachings on Catholic social justice. Pope John Paul II reminds us in his writings, Rich in Mercy: “Jesus Christ taught that man not only receives and experiences the mercy of God, but he is also called to practice mercy toward others: Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.”
We are called to be Christ’s hands and feet—to care for others and to care for God’s creation. As a Catholic School the Corporal Works of Mercy play an important part of our spiritual growth.
Throughout the year, the students and staff will be participating in service projects that assist people in our community. We will also be partnering with the Christian Service Committee on projects within our parish community. It is important that other’s feel the hand of God in our midst when they are in need of compassion and understanding.
