The goal of Physical Education at STA is to teach students to develop healthy living habits that will last a lifetime. We accomplish that by having students participate in a wide variety of activities, sports, and challenges that will increase their physical, social, and mental abilities, as well as teamwork and cooperation skills. Our goal is to provide a safe and motivating class that will encourage all students to want to participate and have fun working to the best of their ability In a faith- filled environment.

We will focus on:
Movement concepts- In the early grades, for example, the program emphasizes of the variety of ways we travel (e.g. running, skipping, hopping), changes of directions and speeds, different ways to balance, jump and land.
Skill themes- Basic motor skills such as throwing, kicking, volleying, and striking with a racket are taught in the grades. In the upper grades the children are taught how to use these skills.
Fundamental skills- In games and sports, gymnastics and various forms of rhythmical movement
Wellness concepts- Will be taught throughout the program. They include, for example, bicycle safety, healthy and unhealthy foods, and ways to improve cardiovascular endurance and flexibility
Assessment
•Students exceed the standard. The student was able to apply, explain, analyze, etc. what was learned.
•Students met the standard. The student was able to demonstrate important concepts and skills taught.
•Students are progressing toward the standard. The student can recall basic/some information about concepts and skills taught. Prompting may be required
•Students are progressing toward the standard with assistance. Students have a limited ability to complete tasks independently.
