The Texas Bluebonnet Award is a program that encourages students in grades 3-6 to read for pleasure. Each year, 20 books are chosen by a selection committee and put on the Texas Bluebonnet Award Master List. The list consists of both fiction and non-fiction books and usually represents a wide variety of literature.
Students who read (or have read aloud to them) a minimum of five books from the current master list are eligible to vote for their favorite book in January each year. The book that receives the most votes from students across Texas is the winner of the Texas Bluebonnet Award.
