Mrs. Mennsfield's Counseling Corner

Greetings, Donald family and friends!  This is my 11th year to be a counselor in LISD and my 26th year in education.  I'm so excited to be a Dolphin!  Before coming to Donald, I was the professional school counselor at Garden Ridge for the last 10 years. Prior to being a counselor, I taught 7th grade Spanish in Oklahoma and then 3rd and 4th grade ESL here in Texas.

A little about me- I'm not a native Texan.  I was born and raised in Oklahoma and still go back often to visit my family there.  I received my undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University in elementary education and a minor in Spanish.  After teaching for a while in Texas, I decided I wanted to be able to work with the whole student, to help them through more than just academic struggles.  I went to the University of North Texas to get my master's in counseling and have been working as a school counselor ever since. 

 I am married to an amazing LISD Art teacher, get to be stepmom to an outstanding young man who is headed off to play college basketball this fall, I have a toddler tornado who's 4 and one crazy dog named Dez!  My life outside of school is busy and chaotic, but I love my sweet family!
