PARENTS: PLEASE SCROLL AND READ ALL FRIDAY NOTES (weekend homework, behavior infractions, and homework information). Thank you!
Math - need parent signature on Progress Check in take home folder
Social Studies - Students will have the first map quiz on Tuesday, September 17. They need to bring home their Social Studies copybook to study the map each night next week. It is a map of the five regions of the United States and bordering countries and bodies of water. The quiz will consist of an identical blank map to what is glued into the copybook. Your student will need to name all of the numbered locations on the map. They should spell the best they can. Spelling must be at least close to the correct spelling. If I cannot understand what your child meant to spell, it will be marked incorrect.
BEHAVIOR INFRACTIONS:
On Monday (September 8) I will start giving behavior infractions for breaking school/classroom rules. I have been reviewing, repeating, and reminding the students daily about my expectations for their courteous, attentive, and kind behavior for the first two weeks of school. I have spoken to the children today to let them know that Monday enforcement will begin. If your child should receive a behavior infraction, it must be signed by the parent and returned to the teacher by the student on the next school day. I would also ask that, if your child receives one at any time this year, before contacting the teacher, you please have a serious conversation with your child at home about how you expect your child to behave at school. We want our children to behave in mature (appropriate for their age) and kind ways, and to own their actions when they fall short of our expectations. Thanks so much for your support!
HOMEWORK:
Since homework is a part of your child's grade in each subject this year (new guidelines mandated by the Archdiocese of Baltimore), we will be assigning homework in Grades 3-5 as follows:
You can typically expect your child to have -
-one math page Monday through Thursday
-one page each of Grammar and Vocab/Spelling Monday through Thursday
-one Religion assignment per week (given at the start of the week, due by the last day of the week)
-EITHER one Social Studies or one Science assignment per week (given at the start of the week, due by the last day of the week)
*STUDYING as we approach quiz and test dates is an EXPECTED part of your child's homework.
Thank you for your cooperation and support of your child's academic growth.

Please take a few minutes today to remind your child about courteous behavior in school - listening the first time, lining up quietly and calmly, being kind to fellow students in our words and actions, using appropriate language. Thank you!

Tomorrow I will start giving uniform reminders (infractions) for children who are not wearing the correct uniform pieces. One thing I am noticing is polo shirts unbuttoned and incorrect uniform socks. The handbook states that socks must be crew style - 3 inches above the ankle bone - no logos. A few students are still wearing athletic socks that just graze the ankle bone. I have reminded the children in class to make sure they correct this at home withh parents. Thank you for your support of our rules here at school.
