Cells
Student's will compare and contrast prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells as well as their specialized parts that perform specific functions. Cellular processes such as homeostasis, energy conversions, transport of molecules, and synthesis of new molecules will be covered. The student will learn the importance of cell differentiation and examine different types of specialized cells.
Viruses
The student will learn the structure of different viruses and be able to describe their reproduction and role in causing diseases, such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and influenza.
The student will describe the interactions that occur among systems of regulation, nutrient absorption, reproduction, and defense from injury or illness.
