DUAL CREDIT

Dual Credit is part of the Lone Star College System's (LSCS) exceptional admissions program, designed specifically for high school juniors and seniors ready for college-level instruction. Students who are at least 16 years of age (or with special permission) may earn both high school and college credits by successfully completing dual credit classes offered either at the high school or at Lone Star College System.

Students who demonstrate college readiness on a placement exam and/or exempt scores based on ACT, SAT, or 11th grade STAAR EOC English, Writing, and Math sections can earn college and high school simultaneously by attending classes at their high school or a Lone Star College. Many of the classes are transferrable to public colleges or universities in Texas.

In order for students to be eligible for the Dual Credit Program, the following must be in place:

  • Student must meet Lone Star College System early college admissions requirements

    • Student must apply to Lone Star College (via www.applytexas.org)

  • Student must get approval from their high school College Counselor and parent/guardian

  • Student must meet deadlines set by Lone Star College System and Spring ISD College Counselor

Students who enroll in a dual credit course will have the grade recorded on his/her transcript and will receive grade points contributing to class rank. For those courses taken on the college campus, transcripts for all grades earned through dual college credit must be submitted to the high school Registrar after completion of the course.
