DSG -VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THE DEDICATED SERVICE GRADUATE (DSG) PROGRAM?

Instilled with an interest in volunteerism, it is the goal for Spring ISD's students to serve in their community while in high school and throughout their lives. This involvement will positively impact the communities and citizens as it is Spring ISD's believe that volunteerism equals success!

WHAT TYPES OF SERVICE COUNT TOWARDS THE DSG PROGRAM?

  • School District

  • Community

  • Church

WHAT TYPE OF SERVICE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE?

  • Making money for personal gain during the service

  • Babysitting for neighbor, relative or friend

  • Doing chores for a neighbor, friend, or relative (i.e. mowing laws, cleaning house)

  • Pet sitting for neighbors

  • Attending pep rallies, games, practices, or camps

  • Time spent participating in activities or fundraisers for clubs

  • Benefits a student's relatives

  • Tasks assigned as part of a class requirement (i.e. band camps, festivals)

  • Time spent participating in sports, drama, band, dance, debate, etc.)

Student DSG Application (Print; Student and parent must sign)

Student Verification Form (Completed by person(s) offering DSG opportunity; print several copies)

Service Summary Cover Sheet/Log

A total of 120 hours are required in order to graduate as a Dedicated Service Graduate and receive a DSG cord. A minimum of 40 hours must be completed in the Spring ISD and submitted by April 1st of each year. Please be sure to make a copy for your records before submitting them to the College Counselor.
